Kim Kardashian has also been the subject of attention due to a graphic sex tape that depicts Kim Kardashian and her then-boyfriend Ray J performing various sexual acts. Prior to the release of this film, Kim Kardashian announced her intention to pursue legal action to block distribution of the tape. This was the first public acknowledgment of the existence of the tape, which Kim Kardashian had previously denied. Despite the impending lawsuit, adult retailers started offering the tape for pre-order in February 2007. Vivid Video made the sex tape available online in March 2007. On April 30, 2007, Kim Kardashian settled with Vivid Entertainment, who paid $1 million to an unidentified source for the video. Vivid will hand over nearly $5 million to Kim Kardashian and stop distributing the tape by the end of May 2007. In July, reports surfaced that Kim Kardashian would be posing for Playboy although it has not been confirmed whether or not Kim Kardashian will be nude.
